Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to come in person or can I send the application to the Netherlands Visa Application Centre?

-All applicants travelling must book an appointment and be present at the date and time of the visa application, including children/infants

  1. What if I do not have all the documents?

-If your application is not accompanied by the documents that are required by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, you will be asked if you wish to proceed with the application as it is, i.e. without all the required documents. Should you consent to this, your application will be registered in our system and accepted for visa application submission, but incomplete applications always lead to processing delays. Considering that you have all the relevant information to submit a file which will allow the necessary verifications and evaluations, the lodging of an incomplete file may lead to a refusal to issue the visa.

  1. Will I get my visa at the end of the process?

-As an application centre, the Netherlands Visa Application Centre will not be able to guarantee you a visa. The issuance or refusal of a visa is at the sole discretion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Netherlands Visa Application Centre cannot influence this decision in any way

  1. What is the processing time for a Visa application?

-The minimum processing time for a Schengen visa is 14 calendar days. Please see the Processing Time page for more information.

  1. What is the minimum duration of validity of travel documents that can be accepted?

-The travel document presented must be valid at least three months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen country in case a single-entry visa is applied for.

If a multiple-entry visa is applied for, the travel document must be valid three months after the last intended date of departure.

  1. What should I provide as proof of relationship or my spouse’s nationality?

-Your marriage certificate (+ photocopy) is the only document that will be accepted as proof of relationship and your spouse’s national passport (+ photocopy) can be accepted as proof of nationality.

  1. What qualifies as adequate travel insurance?

-A travel insurance policy (issued in the UK) should be covering medical expenses for a minimum amount of EURO 30.000 and also including emergency hospital treatment and repatriation.

  1. If I have received visas in the past, do I have to submit a full set of documents when applying for a new visa for another trip?

-Yes, with every new application you have to submit all the recent required documents again.
