Greece Tourist Visa

  1. Passport (original + photocopy of passport bio data page), with at least 2 blank visa pages, valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date of the trip, and not issued more than 10 years ago as of the date of return from your scheduled trip. The same applies to passports issued more than 10 years ago that have since been extended. In addition photocopies of previous (last 3 years) Schengen visas need to be provided, if any. When applicant opts for passport collection, then an extra photocopy of passport bio data page needs to be provided
  2. UK residence permit (original + photocopy – If card type please copy both sides), valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area.
  3. One (1) photo is required (See Photo Specification page above). Photos that do not comply with these standards will not be accepted.
  4. Proof of sufficient means of subsistence, both for the duration of the intended stay and for the return to the UK.

Please note that the minimum amount of money required for each day that you stay in Greece is 50 euros or 40 pounds. Please be advised that the embassy may require statement of savings account or travellers cheques as supporting documents for your visa application.

Last three (3) months bank statements (of debit cards, credit cards, savings or current accounts) are required. Alternatively, applicants can provide travellers’ cheques or sponsorship letters along with the sponsor’s ID and bank statement.

  1. Fully paid return travel tickets: If paid through a travel agency, then receipt, invoice or payment confirmation should be provided

When travelling by car, please provide driver’s driving license, car registration, car insurance and travel tickets (ferry or Eurotunnel) showing the car’s registration number and passengers’ names

  1. Proof of accommodation.

This should be in the form of either hotel bookings or original invitation letter duly signed by the host, whose signature needs to be verified by a Greek authority (police, honorary consulate etc).

If the data regarding the host has not been verified by the authorities of the Member State dealing with the application, the applicant needs to present: A copy of ID card or bio data page of the host’s passport, their residence permit and proof of residence (property title deeds, rental agreements etc, proof of income), and the following Sworn Affidavit Form.

  1. Travel medical insurance.

Applicants shall be in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance to cover any expenses which might arise during their stay (s) in the territory of the Member States. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30.000.

  1. Proof of Occupation.

A recent (not older than one month), original and signed letter from employer/ 3months pay slips/proof of social security contribution. If self-employed, please provide an original letter from an accountant or the last tax return form.

For students a recent (not older than 1 month) original letter from the University is required.

For minors a recent (not older than 1 month) original letter from the School/ College is required.

Important information:

Original documents (marriage certificates, birth certificates etc) issued by other countries (other than the UK) need to have the apostille stamp or been ratified by the relevant Embassy.

An official translation is required (original or true copy ratified by the relevant Embassy) in case the documents (marriage certificates, birth certificates, etc) are issued by other countries (and are not in English or in French language)

For minors/children the following should be provided:

  1. A consent letter from both biological parents,
  2. Original and photocopy of Birth certificate and official translation if it is not in English
  3. Originals and copies of both biological parents’ passports.

If one parent has sole custody, the parent must provide original and copy of the court decision. If the document is not in English, a certified translated copy must be provided.

If one parent is living abroad (e.g. in case of a divorce), then that parent needs to have his/her consent letter authorised by the Greek authorities abroad.

The application form of the minor should be signed by both the parents in all the signature fields provided In cases of adopted/foster children, please provide original and copy of birth certificate prior to adoption, and original and copy after the adoption. A professionally translated copy should be provided if not in English.
